Anyone who's been paying attention to the Bowl Blowout Bonanzas right now...

Welcome back friends and I hope you've been paying attention! We're on quite the roll here at the Deep Fried Bets Bowl Blowout Bonanza and there's free money to be won by all!

We've got the final 14 bowl games coming up for you here! Don't worry I've got a full playoff post coming soon I promise. Until then though let's worry about making this money on the regularly scheduled bowl games!

Birmingham Bowl: South Florida (-10) vs. South Carolina

Thursday December 29th 1:00pm

Ahh the Birmingham Bowl, as a proud resident of Birmingham I had absolutely no clue this game was tomorrow. That's how much people around here care about it. I know a lot of Auburn fans are disappointed they didn't get to stick around for the Holidays again this year though. On to the teams that actually made it this year; South Florida is rolling in with an interim staff after Willie Taggert left for Oregon. While South Carolina is making a surprising postseason appearance in Will Muschamp's first year. Time and time again I'm going to fade interim staffs and this is no different. South Carolina played a much tougher schedule this year and I think that will better suit them here. I'll take the team that recruits SEC level talent over the school who gets the bigger program in Florida's rejects. The pick: South Carolina +10.

Belk Bowl: Arkansas (+7) vs. Virginia Tech

Thursday December 29th 4:30pm

Ahh everyone's favorite bowl on Twitter. Also home to one of the worst bad beats of ALL TIME! The 2012 Belk Bowl; take it away SVP:

That was 4 years ago and I still don't think I'm over it. That truly was an all-timer. Hopefully we won't have to worry about any of that nonsense on Thursday afternoon. This year's edition seems to be a pretty good one on paper. Arkansas has been great down the stretch the last few years but didn't close quite as strong this year. This is Virginia Tech's first bowl game without Frank Beamer since probably the Civil War or something. I think VT is propped up on the fact that they played for an ACC title way too much; folks are completely disregarding the fact that they definitely play in the weaker division of the ACC. I think the Hogs get the outright W here but I'll take the seven just to be safe. The pick: Arkansas +7.

Valero Alamo Bowl: Oklahoma State (+3) vs. Colorado

Thursday December 29th 8:00pm

Ohh Colorado we meet again. I don't think I've ever missed on a team more than I did Colorado this year. The Buffs started 10-0 ATS and I believe I started fading them after they started 6-0. Then I finally hit their last 2 games betting against them. Then I proceeded to take them and the points in the PAC12 Championship game; that did not end well. I want to start by saying I don't think Colorado has played anyone worth a damn and I don't think they are very good themselves. Unfortunately for us in this spot, I think the exact same thing can be said about their opponent in Oklahoma State. I think this is actually a pretty even matchup, and despite all the awards in the contrary I think Ok State actually has the coaching advantage. I'll take the points here and hope that Oklahoma State shows up ready to play. The pick: Oklahoma State +3.

Autozone Liberty Bowl: Georgia (Pick) vs. TCU

Friday December 30th 11:00am

I don't think either of these programs started off the year with high hopes of playing in the Liberty Bowl, which will probably lead to some bad football in this spot. TCU was pretty bad ATS (3-9) this year and now they have the benefit of the public backing Georgia. That's usually a recipe for success come bowl season, and we've already seen that in the form of Baylor. I think Georgia will be the team less excited to play in this game and you have to think they've already started thinking about a more successful 2017. A lot of the numbers folks like TCU here and so do I. I think the Horned Frogs show up more inspired and get the win. The pick: TCU.

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl

Friday December 30th 2:30pm

The Champions of Life are headed to Nashville! What a great accomplishment for the preseason Super Bowl Champions (yes, Tennessee’s preseason hype transcended College Football)! Smart-assery aside I can’t imagine Tennessee is very enthused about playing in this game. I know Nebraska is banged up, but I don’t really care. The public is all over the Vols here and I’m sure that’s aided by the fact that they’re playing in their home state. Not too much analysis here; give me the team with the better coach that’s catching points in what should be a slam dunk of a cover. The pick: Nebraska +6.5

Capital One Orange Bowl: Michigan (+7) vs. Florida State.

Friday December 30th 7:00pm

Now this could be the matchup of Bowl Season if both teams show up to play. This is one of those spots where both teams are undoubtedly disappointed to not be playing in the playoffs, but will that show up on the field? I’m still not 100% sold on Michigan although they did give Ohio State all they wanted and more. I think Florida State has been flying under the radar ever since they got shellacked at Louisville. I’d say Jimbo Fisher’s squad is one of the more improved throughout the season. The public is split on this one so no real advantage there. I’ll take the team with a better offense and a defense with the potential to be equal. That team is Florida State and they’re also getting seven points. The pick: Florida State +7.

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: LSU (-3) vs. Louisville

Saturday December 31st 10:00am

A 10am local kick for LSU and 11am for Louisville, which is not ideal. Here we have another set of teams that had their eyes set more on the College Football Playoff. Louisville and Bobby Petrino are caught in yet another scandal, although this one is a joke compared to the others. Louisville simply accepted some information on Wake’s game plan now their offensive coordinator has been suspended for the game. LSU is also reeling a bit right now after they missed out on their top two coaching targets and had to settle on Matt Canada as their OC. Fournette’s said he’s skipping this game to focus on the draft but the public didn’t react quite as much as they did with Stanford. Guice isn’t quite Fournette but I don’t think he’s too far behind. From what I can tell I think defenses finally caught onto Heisman winner Lamar Jackson towards the end of the season, and LSU will be eager to start the permanent Orgeron era off by shutting him down. I think this one will be low scoring especially considering the early kick so I like the under and the Tigers here. The pick: LSU and the under. The first half under is definitely in play as well.

Outback Bowl: Florida (-3) vs. Iowa

Monday January 2nd 12:00pm

Of all the bowl games, this is the one I least have a lean on. I have seen nothing at all that excites me in either direction on this game. I think there’s a little bit of SEC bias on Florida that but I don’t know that it’s enough to matter. Again, I have no clue what to think on this game so I’m not going to spend much time on it. I’ll take the points and an Iowa team that might slightly want to be there more. The pick: Iowa +3.

Allstate Sugar Bowl: Auburn (+3) vs. Oklahoma

Monday January 2nd 7:30pm

I guess we’re just letting anyone in the Sugar Bowl now that teams that only won two/thirds of their games can get in huh? Yeah, Auburn went 8-4 and is playing in the Sugar Bowl. Good job rest of the SEC! Has Joe Mixon punched any females while I’ve been writing this? Yeah so this game should be interesting for many reasons, and I think Vegas is giving us an opportunity to cash in a little bit. Oklahoma has to feel like they should be in the playoff and Auburn has to feel like they’re lucky as hell to be in this spot. The public is all over the Sooners as Auburn didn’t inspire in their last two real games. I think the barners actually offer some good value so I’m going to roll with them and no I don’t want to talk about it. The pick: Auburn +3.

Hyundai Sun Bowl: Stanford (-3) vs. North Carolina

Friday December 30th, 1:00pm

Here we get our first taste of the major college star deciding to skip his bowl game to focus on the NFL Draft in Christian McCaffrey. Let me start off by saying I think people are looking way too much into that. The public is on UNC at almost a two/thirds clip and I'm guessing 90% of that is because of McCaffrey. I'm not saying I don't see UNC being worthy of some of those bets I just know folks betting this far in advance usually consist of uninformed gamblers who took UNC solely because of number five being out. Bryce Love isn't a bad alternative for Stanford and I thnk he'll have a huge day against UNC's defense. Do you remember how pathetic the Tar Heels looked last year against Baylor in their bowl game? I'll roll with the side coached by David Shaw in anticipation they'll be ready to play. The pick: Stanford -3.

Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl: South Alabama (+14) vs. Air Force

Friday December 30th 4:30pm

Seriously, how many bowl games can you possibly have in Arizona? I went to Arizona last year and although it’s nice I don’t really see it being worthy of all the love it’s getting come bowl season. Air Force isn’t very happy to be here and they’ve let some people know. South Alabama is a school that hasn’t been to many bowl games and matchups like these tend to favor the underdog. In fact the Jags of USA have never won a bowl game which is definitely something to watch for. The early public play is on Air Force here and that will probably continue as the public loves to back the service academies. I don’t have to look too much into matchups here, I’m taking what Vegas is giving me and rolling with the Jaguars. The pick: South Alabama +14.

TaxSlayer Bowl: Georgia Tech (-3.5) vs. Kentucky;

Saturday December 31st 10:00am

Yet another 10am central kick, although it’s really 11am locally for both teams. What a joke. Here we have another great chance for a first half under and possible overall under. I still can’t believe this matchup exists the day before new years; this game screams early bowl season kickoff. I usually like to fade power 5 option teams in bowl season because I feel like it’s pretty easy to stop the option with a month to prepare. The public is on Georgia Tech here which helps me out a little bit. I think Kentucky fans will show up (they actually care about football too!) here and they’ll want to show up for their faithful. Stoops with some time to prep for this option attack just makes too much sense. The pick: Kentucky +3.5.

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic: Western Michigan (+8) vs. Wisconsin

Monday January 2nd 12:00pm

No folks that is not a typo; Western Michigan is actually in the Cotton Bowl. PJ Fleck has rowed his little boat of energy all the way to Arlington. Can someone please check to see if glory boy Barry Alvarez is stepping down to coach this game? The public is actually all over Wisconsin in this one but that number keeps shifting a little bit towards the Broncos day by day. I love what Fleck’s done at Western Michigan and I know they’ll be fired up as hell to play in this game. I think Wisconsin will show up as well though so it won’t just be a rollover effort on their part. I think Wisconsin’s been overvalued all year and it’s finally starting to catch up to them. I’m taking the points against Wisconsin yet again and rowing my boat all the way to the window. The pick: Western Michigan +8.

Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual: USC (-7) vs. Penn State

Monday January 2nd, 4:00pm

Here we have a battle of two of the hottest teams down the stretch in College Football, and two of the premier programs in the sport. Penn State has rebounded nicely from being an absolutely horrible institution and made it back to the Rose Bowl. It’s also been a while since USC has been here (by their standards) so I think both programs will cherish this opportunity. I don’t foresee either of these teams sulking about being left out of the playoff as their playing in THE premier non playoff game. I really like how USC has come on the latter half of the year and I think Penn State’s run might have been a bit fluky. I love the Trojans in this spot and I think they come up big. The pick: USC -7.

Alright my friends that does it for the scheduled College Football bowl games. We’ve knocked them all out aside from the playoffs. Don’t worry, I’ll be back tomorrow with a full playoff roundup! (That is what you call a tease)...

In the meantime check out the Deep Fried Bets Podcast for all of our picks and please spread the good word!
